This is Us

Anthony Bourdain was a hero of mine. I discovered No Reservations in the 2000's and watched reruns and waited with baited breath for new episodes. I also love The Food Network. The food, the trips, the people they meet along the way. Viceland came on television and was so dope because it felt like a younger, raunchier version of The Food Network and The Travel Channel.

There was something missing though. Well, a few things missing.

Women.

Black People.

Music.

Arts.

I've had the great fortune to travel across the country and around the world performing background vocals with Ms. Lauryn Hill.

I've met some amazing people along the way. Being back in NY makes me miss so many of them. It's easy to get sucked into NYC, to the hustle and bustle. But I've seen other things, and can't deny that NYC is cool, but it ain't EVERYTHING.

With Soul Scene, I and a few of my friends will travel to where the music is! Engaging with the scene, musicians, and the residences of each city to understand what's being made, how the city has influenced those artists and what's next.

(Corey Wallace, Miki Yamanaka, Wayne Tucker, Nickel Cinco of Nickel and Dime Ops)
None of us are one trick ponies. We have so many things that fuel us, that give us passion, so we meet the artists in these other spaces and dig deeper into what makes this city home, how their many passions influence their music and how that influences their views and perspectives.
